That’s a good buy. Unfortunately, California insists that any vehicle made post-1976 must pass smog. This being a Land Rover, it probably wouldn’t pass the sniffer .

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, this is probably going not be half the price of a bro truck. I'm guessing around $45-$50k.

Holy shit it’s got the right engine. 300tdis are actually somewhat reliable (from personal experience very reliable but make sure the coolant system is checked regularly, I overheated mine and blew a head gasket) and do reasonably good mileage. Speed is a bit lacking, but it’s a Defender. Will happily do 75mph all day long, and won’t slow down up steed hills.
